I purchased a rattan ottoman for my deck that I stumbled upon when sourcing outdoor furniture for my house and I paid for it just as I normally would with any other online shopping purchase. I really didn't think twice about it (although now looking back, I see a lot of red flags that I should have noticed right from the start!) I then received a confirmation email that the order was successfully processed and that I would receive another email with tracking information once it is sent out. I figured since the product was pretty inexpensive and advertised that they 'ship straight from the factory', that it would be coming from another country and assumed it would take time to deliver. Therefore, I wasn't anticipating a follow up email from them for a while so I didn't think much of it and it even slipped my mind that I was waiting for it until it was about a month later when I finally received "the tracking information". However, they must have intentionally sent me a random Fedex tracking number to follow, as I can see the item status says "delivered" now, but to an address in California when it was supposed to be delivered to me in Wisconsin. It wasn't until that point that I started getting suspicious as I began to look a little further into the situation. I tried contacting them and sure enough there was no contact information listed on their website at all besides for "123 Main Street", the confirmation emails that were sent to me say they came from <[email protected]> and to reply to "[email protected]. I never initially browsed through their website, but now looking at it, you can tell everything is a generic template and not real. I tried replying back to the email address they sent me the confirmation through, (asking where my order is and informing them that they had to have given me an incorrect tracking number considering the Fedex proof of delivery picture that was posted was of 3 small boxes (in CA) and the product I order wouldn't have been able to fit in any of those. They of course did not respond and again silent when I attempted to reach out once more. - Luckily I didn't put out much money for this order, and in the process of disputing the charge with my bank, however I did provide this scammer with all my personal information such as credit card, billing/shipping details, email, phone number etc. that I'm now nervous about what may come. (Not to mention their policy listed on the website state that they will keep all personal information.) I just want to be able to warn others not to fall for this too when placing orders online and look for the signs to make sure the company is credible as that's never something I thought I'd have to question prior - it's upsetting that people get away with doing this kind of thing!</[email protected]>
