I've been trying to find a Maine [censored] kitten for my son. If anyone knows anything about that particular breed, they are the largest domestic cat breed and on average are $2500 plus per kitten
I found a few breeders that were selling kittens for under $1000 and I contacted them. Cultured maine [censored] contacted me back immediately. That should have been my first red flag. After a few email exchanges and pictures of kittens, I agreed to purchase one for $550 and $200 for the delivery fee. I live in Texas. They are in Georgia. So total $750.
A bill of sale was drafted, signed by the sellers stating if I did not get the kitten, I'd be refunded. It seemed legitimate. I agreed to the terms and sent them $750 via zelle.
They said they received payment and would begin shipping the kitten the next morning. The next day immediately started with problems. They claimed to not have received payment. I sent screen shots of the confirmation. Then they agreed to proceed and would figure out why they don't see it on their end. At this point I'm already thinking this is a scam. I get an email a hour later from the courier company: moonlightchaufer.com with tracking number and eta of delivery.
An hour after that, I get another email from the shipping company saying that it's been delayed because they need an insurance payment of $1450 to insurance the cat during delivery and that it would be 100%refundable. I was livid and refused to pay. The sellers were so apologetic and said they would work it out and that they didn't know about the fee..
They tried to convince me to split the payment but again I said no. I haven't heard since. I demanded my refund but I was scammed. I feel like an [censored] and I'm working on getting my money back some way
