I was interested in purchasing one of their kittens. When I notified them, I received an email with details of the cat, and legitimate questions a breeder would ask regarding the environment the cat would be in once purchased. Upon answering the questions, I received a "sales contract" and asked to send payment via Zelle of $750 which including transport fees from Montana to North Carolina. The breeder handled contacting the "transport" freight line and I received an email from [email protected] to verify my address, and name. Once I did, I received tracking information which seemed pretty legitimate. Then I received an email stating I would have to pay an additional $1300-$1700 to rent a temp controlled crate to transport the pet and the payment would need to be made via Zelle, Google Pay, Bit Coin, Walgreens, CVS, etc. That's where I got alarmed. Why am I sending money via transfer to a legitimate freight line? So I checked their website, I tried calling their main line number which routed to a voicemail box. I called the customer service number listed in their email and it routed me to a random person who did not introduce them self. They didn't need any information regarding the transport verification # to look up my reservation to discuss further context... It was like he immediately knew what I was calling about. I texted the breeder back and I told them I was unwilling to transfer any further funds to pay for the crate, and that per our contract it should have been covered as part of "shipping". He offered for me to pay half, and he pay half. To which I declined as I was not going to put forth further funds as I originally stated.
