Purchased 2 Gift cards from CVS Longs Kailua store as a thank you gift for my cousin who did home improvements for me: $500 on Home depot, $500 on Lowes. When he went to Home Depot, the card was 0 balance, Lowes card was 0 balanced, too. Apparently the activation code applied to each card at Long's store register, signals to scammer to use the $ on each card.

Gift cards at CVS Longs were tampered with. Filed an incident report with CVS Corporate Consumer Relations Research Team. I'm out $1000.00. Home Depot and Lowes are looking into it. They call it Gift Card Scam. I'm alerting you to alert consumers that purchasing Gift Cards at Retail stores are a RISK and not safe to do. I am ordering a new credit card.

Is there anything else I can do to regain my $1000 or $500 on each card for my cousin to use?
