Type of a scam Employment
The contact was Kayla Tripp. I was promised a laptop, and time tracking device by mail. I sent them my name, address, and a copy of my passport. Along with bank info for payroll. (Luckily, I opened a new account at a new bank). I only have $1 in it.
I was directed to speak to a hiring manager through Wire Secure Messenger. Andrea Kane (male by the way). He said there was something holding up the finance department and sent me a check from Lexington Health, Inc. made out to me for $2,400. My name was already typed into the signature line. I was to deposit via mobile app. and buy my own equipment.
This was before I had been onboarded or met anyone in person or via Zoom.
I immediately felt skeptical. I told him I wasn't comfortable with this. He said, actually, don't cash this check due to the date on it.
I said, I will not be cashing any checks and if this was a legitimate venture, they could send the equipment per my contract.
He just replied "alright" - that was the end of that.
I emailed Kayla Tripp 3 times today and messaged her LinkedIn account and texted her at 615-541-5196. No response!
The last email was returned undeliverable.
So.... there ya go!!
I have put a credit watch on my accounts.
