The first initial text was from Florence Burlock, claiming to be from Damen Group. She said that I needed to download Signal Messenger App for an interview. And then proceeded to give me the name of Mr. Alberto Glenn for an interview. After downloading the app, I received a message right away. It looks and sounds very convincing. They also gave me a Interview verification number: DMG202.
I started a conversation with "Alberto Glenn", which seemed very legit. But as the conversation progressed, the more I got a bad gut feeling. They asked about bank information (which I DID NOT give) in the conversation as well as asking for my home address, phone number, email, etc. (after telling me that I got the job). I mentioned several times that I was worried that this was a scam. I told them that I preferred waiting until I received an email offer before giving out any information. Then complete silence! This is a scam, so please beware. It is so sad that people who do this are just plain terrible and I feel sorry for them because they have to live with themselves.

I received a text from Florence Burlock at #516-588-0025 to do an interview for an Administrative Assistant/Data Entry position. I was instructed to download the Signal App and my contact was Alberto Glenn. I was given an interview code of DMG202 to give to Mr. Glenn after contacting him. Once I reached out he greeted me and sent me a description of the job. All of the interview was done by text messaging which I found odd but just thought that with so many things going virtual and not in person that it just could be something new. After he asked me regular interview questions, nothing out of the ordinary, he said he would give my responses to the Board of Directors to review and to stand by for 15-30 minutes. 35 minutes later I was told I got the job and what next steps were. I would be sent a laptop, printer and a check to purchase the software I would need for the job. Right away that struck me as odd but I let the whole thing play out. He told me to check in on the app the next morning for instructions about the check being sent. Something didn’t sit right with me all night so I started googling and the Damen Group is legit, but I couldn’t pull up Mr. Glenn or Mrs. Burlock’s info. anywhere nor was there an HR contact info. listed. The next morning 2 minutes before I was to clock in, Mr. Glenn sends me a message first asking about my morning. I told him I was nervous. I then asked if I would receive any HR contact info. or would he be the only person I would be speaking with. He then that he would be my point of contact until I started orientation. Again something nagged at me so I asked him for his company email address and that is when he went radio silent and knew the jig was up. I then proceeded to explain that I just wanted to make sure that this was all legit but still no response to this day. I then informed him that I would not receive anything from him and would refuse anything sent my way. So my red flags were, a completely text message interview, interview on a Sunday afternoon, needing the board of directors to sign off on hiring me and not himself, the pay rate that he was offering was a lot for what I was going to be doing and of course the whole sending me a check and no response to a simple request.
