I own a rental property in Buffalo, NY and we currently have a unit listed for rent on Zillow. Yesterday, I received a call from a man stating he was outside my rental looking in the window "as he was told to do". The man asked if there was someone that could let him in to see the apartment before he took it. I had never spoken to this man, he hadn't completed any of my pre-application paperwork and I would never tell anyone to look in the window, so I started asking questions and learned that he found my apartment listed for rent on Facebook. He had contacted the number listed on the ad, and the person he was communicating with told him to go to the apartment, look in the window and see if he liked it. If he wanted it he could complete an application for $60 and he'd move forward with renting the apartment to him. When he got to the apartment, my sign with my phone number was out front, so he called that number to ask if he could be let in to the apartment. My husband and I started doing some searching on Facebook, found the page where our apartment is listed with all our photos and everything. They have the apartment listed for $200 more per month than we are asking too. We reported the page to Facebook and when I commented on our listing saying they weren't affiliated with our apartment, they blocked me and deleted the comment.
