Type of a scam Employment
Received unknown and unsolicited group text message from (770) 310-1352 registered to ***** ****** of Atlanta, GA on 06/22/2022. Text solicited participants for Dasani Car Wrap Advertisement Campaign with attached link: https://dasaniwcardecal.com/ offering $500/week compensation to display a car decal on the participant’s personal vehicle. Reviewed the link and website which looked legitimately from Dasani and input my contact information. Received Priority Mail envelope on 07/26/2022 with Return Address listed as Borders Group Inc, 3539 Sawmill Ter, Marietta, GA 30062-4223. Researched Borders Group Inc as addressed and discovered there is NO such business at that address. 3539 Sawmill Ter, Marietta, GA 30062-4223 is listed and shown on Google Maps as a private residential listing. Borders Group Inc., an Ann Arbor, MI based company, which has been out of business since September 28, 2011. Inside the Priority Mail envelope was a letter from ******* *****, Auto Wrap Campaign Manager, cell - (650) 239-0004 - Millbrae, CA listing. The letter detailed the Guidelines and Instructions for the Car Wrap Advertisement Campaign. A check #7654 for ($3,490.11) dated 07/18/2022 issued by Agri-Bedding Group, LLC, 191 Kinsey Town Road, Cleveland, GA 30528 via Northside Bank 27-2057/611 is listed online as North Side Bank & Trust CO - Northside accompanied the letter. Confirmed routing number was correct. Agri-Beeding Group, LLC address listing is correct and is listed as a business sponsor but this company is temporarily closed as of this filing date. The letter instructs participants to deposit the check through a Bank Teller into the participant’s bank account after taking a snapshot of the deposit slip with sensitive banking information marked out. The snapshot is to be sent via email to [email protected] or via text to (650) 239-0004, which is listed as Manager - ******* ***** cell phone number in the letter. The email or text must include the full name of the participant, check number and amount of the deposited check. The participant will deduct $500 as the first week’s compensation and the balance will be sent to the Decal Installer to pay for a 5” x 7” Decal Sticker Installation on the side of the participant’s vehicle, the Decal Permit allowing interstate travel without issue, and Decal Removal after contracted commitment is fulfilled. After the deposited check clears the bank, the participant is scheduled for a home installation appointment with additional instructions relayed by ******* *****, Auto Wrap Campaign Manager. The Decal Installer will arrive for the home appointment with a contract detailing the terms of engagement 1-4 months commitment to drive 5-6 miles/day until the contract end date when the Installer returns to remove the decal at the end of the campaign. The participant receives $500/week compensation to the end of the campaign. I have done my research and found too many red flag discrepancies to proceed with this process. Depositing a check that is slated to bounce and stick the participant with repayment is an obvious scam. All identified scam artists in this scheme should be investigated, served with indictments for felony fraud, fined, made to compensate with restitution for those, who fell victim to this scam and serve applicable prison time for the scope of this crime, especially following the hardships after the COVID pandemic.
