They left a message on my voicemail stating that they had a 'returned item' (bounced check) that was scheduled to be deducted from my account if I did not call back within 24 hours. I haven't written a check in about a hundred years (does anybody actually write checks anymore?) Called my bank just to be sure that my debit card wasn't being used fraudulently. Nope. The bank's customer service rep said they have been getting a lot of calls recently about these people fishing for your banking information. Just scammers.

I have been receiving phone calls about I have a past due debt that I need to settle or they are going to seize my accounts. When you call the numbers back their mail box is full or it hangs up. Yesterday, 3/24/16 I was able to finally speak to someone and they said I bounced a check from "1997" for $18.15 from Me N Eds Pizza. They threatened me that they do not have any statue of limitation on collection and demanded I pay it. I contacted my bank and they said that their members are getting calls regarding this and it seems like a scam. They cannot go back to 1997 to show that it was cleared. Their records only go back 7 years. Their is nothing on my credit report regarding this issue and I need to stop being harassed. I am not paying them one dime. Numbers called from include 646-766-9846, 205-545-5161 and you call back 866-218-3402 "Data Check". My banker stated that the other members were demanded to pay fees and penalties, so I do not know if they are trying to get me for fees and penalties as well as I did not let them get that far in the call. This is absurd.
