I posted a couch for sale on craigslist and was contacted by "David" that he would like to buy it. Since he could not come to purchase it in person he would send me a check to deposit for the cost of the couch and movers. Then I would simply have to transfer the moving funds to the moving company for pick up. I received the cashiers check from BBVA and deposited it in my account. The transaction cleared. Then he gave me the contact information at the moving company who requested a zelle payment. I complied and sent a zelle to the provided contact. After the zelle transfer for $1550 cleared, I was then notified that the original check was cancelled and therefore the funds were no longer in my account. So ultimately I was scammed out of $1550. Zelle is claiming no responsibility since I sent the money from a bank account. The bank is claiming they cannot recover funds from Zelle. Therefore I am desperately trying to hold this individual accountable as well as the payment platforms to cancel the transactions and restore the funds.
