Type of a scam Employment
I was hired by Day & Lee Printing Supplies (www.dayleesupplies.com) for a wrapping job on August 23, 2016. Few days after, I received a big roll of wrapping paper, then I started receiving packages from all kinds of stores, i.e. Best Buy, Target, New Egg and I also had to pick up some packages from UPS and Apple store. All information came from their web portal. Every morning, I received instant messages and assignments from their web portal. My task is waiting for (from US Mail, Fedex or UPS), update their portal site when I received the package, then they will provide USPS prepaid shipping label. I had to upload all packaging pictures and upload the receipt in order to get the job done. Almost all packages were shipped to Dover, DE.
Everything went well and their website didn’t look suspicious.
Since I have passed the 30 days period, I was supposed to get paid $3,050, which is $1500 base salary and $50 for each package shipped plus $50 for pick up bonus. After I sent my last message to them, they cut me off from the portal site, I couldn’t login anymore but the main website is still active. I tried to call my supervisor and the HR manager, both phone numbers are now inactive.
I feel very uncomfortable and didn’t want to be associated since all packages. are shipped to my address. Luckily, I contacted Credit Bureau a week ago to protect myself from identity theft (2 people tried to apply a Pay Pal credit card from my address). Beside my free wrapping work, plus some office supplies expenses, I didn’t spend any money.
I have almost all information on file, included the signed agreement.
I would like to share this story and protect other people from getting the same “wrapping job” scam issue and I hope we can catch these people.
