I called the phone number and talked to someone who called himself Alan. He directed me to a free download and said Dell would refund the $299.99 they had already charged me. In the process of getting the refund, he had me input my name and the amount of $80 into a form. As I input the $80.00, a pair of zeros suddenly appeared between the 80 and the decimal point. I tried to delete the amount, but the program wouldn’t let me. “Alan” expressed alarm that Dell would be refunding me $8000.00 instead of just $80. That triggered a scheme to have me withdraw money from my bank account to pay back Dell. I did withdraw the money because I saw that “Alan” had access to my account and the amount of $8000 was "Pending".
I was to send the money by FedEx to Zoe Lee, 144 Beaver Falls Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123. Later the address was changed to Johnson Cheung at another Las Vegas, NV address. I do not have the changed address which was done over the phone.
When I arrived home, I discovered both my savings and checking accounts were drained, except for $243.
