Type of a scam Phishing
In order to put the refund back to my credit card, they indicated they he'd to use a gift card to do this. I was instructed to purchase one at a local Walgreens and I did so because I really believed they were Delta agents. As it turned out after 4 purchased gift cards, I stopped any further conversation against their strong pleas to continue. I called BP VISA to cancel the card and I submitted a fraud investigation.
I also contacted Delta via another Frequent Flier Number that I was able to retrieve and one I wished I had found earier. They asked for a copy of the email confirming cancellation of the flight and said they would update me. I suspected data breach given all of the info the now questionable agent recited about me. I followed up again with Delta to alert them about what I think reminds a data breach in their system. All this took place on 7/3/20 and the following 3 weeks.
To date, Delta has not followed up. BP VISA disallowed the fraud claim because Walgreens and CVS produced receipts. I am trying now to contact Walgreens and CVS Customer Service to see if they can help.
Please so note this incident in your records.
Thanks,
Joseph Kowalski
