Attempted to buy puppy from person, he requested a deposit of $350 through CASHAPP ...then blocked number and wont return money.

Newspaper ad in Syracuse, NY was advertising French Bulldog puppies in Rhode Island. I contacted them and they asked for a deposit, I declined and stated I would drive the 5 hours the next day and pay in cash, in full, in person. They insisted other people were considering putting a deposit down and I really should put money down if I wanted to reserve the dog. I again declined and said I would call in the morning to see if the dog was still available. The next day the dog was “sold”. So I asked if any other puppies were still available, they went through the others interested/put down a deposit now scam again. Told them I could come out now and all of a sudden the wife was in surgery and now was not a good time for them. At that point I reverse image searched the photos on the website of all the puppies and I found various Instagram accounts of the puppies all from different users accounts going back to 2018. This is a total scam.
