I was searching on Google for a deal on an All-Clad saucepan. Prices ranged between $200, and around $150. Finally, my search surfaced a "deal" that was much better than any I'd seen offered - I don't recall exactly what the price was, but it was somewhere close to $100. I clicked through to a website I'd never heard of, and in fact, it had a name that was inconsistent with cooking supplies or housewares. (Why didn't I heed these warnings? I don't know, other than to acknowledge I was hungry for a deal; I was looking to replace a pot I'd ruined - an expensive pot that I can't afford.). I placed the order using my debit card and didn't get an order-confirmation email until the next day. When the order confirmation came in, it came from a company different from the name of the website I'd been on (I don't now recall the name of the website). The amount of money charged to bank was different from the amount listed on the website, and from teh amount listed in the confirmation email. So, vendor name, sale price, date of purchase - all were inconsistent across platforms, making the purchase more difficult to trace, to search for on my computer and in my bank account, more confusing over all.
