Received a notice in the mail, in a blank envelope, telling me I'd had multiple notices. Notifying me about my "expiring factory warranty." I do not own a car. This is a pretty obvious scam. But I wanted to report them because if it went to someone elderly or unsuspecting, they could cause real trouble.

I received in the mail a letter from the Department of Automobile Records stating it was a "Vehicle Document/Alert Notice" and that it was personal & confidential. It said that my auto file needed updated and that I was receiving the notice because my factory warranty will expire or has already expired based on the mileage and age of my vehicle. I just bought my vehicle a few months ago through a dealership, and bought an extended warranty so this wasn't making any sense. Additionally, they provided an account code and a program deadline. On the back of the paper was an example invoice of what I could be charged without coverage given something were to happen to my vehicle. There was no mailing address listed, and when I called the number the guy who answered seemed to struggle with finding my "account #". After putting me on hold, I quickly searched Google for the business name and the results I got were about warrenty scams. I quickly ended the phone call. The letter did not list the dealership I bought my car from, nor the business who I'm making payments too for my auto loan. My vehicle make and model wasn't listed as well. This all seemed sketchy. I then searched Google some more, and learned that a car warrenty letter will always include the name of the manufacture in which the vehicle was purchased. That then lead me to write this warning for any others out there receiving this same letter. I attached pictures of the letter. To conclude, I was not asked for any personal information, nor did they scam me out of any money. As i mentioned before, I hung up quick enough to avoid this! Thankfully!

I received a notice in the mail that looks like an authentic document from the government that says "Immediate Response To This Notice Requested." They offer their help with what may be a problem with my automobile coverage, they give me a deadline, they say they also speak Spanish. On the back is a sample "invoice" showing potential costs that I might accrue if I do not call them. BUT I don't have a car. The whole thing is a fake.

A letter with a fake and official looking invoice that begins "Our records indicate that you have received multiple notices and have not contacted us to update your auto file. Please call 1-877-413-6377 today. Se Habla Espanol.

You are receiving this because your factory warranty will expire or may have already expired based on the mileage and age of your vehicle. If you have updated your coverage please call to verify.

By neglecting to replace your coverage you will be at risk of being financially liable for any and all repairs after your factory warranty expires. However, you may still have time left to activate your service contract on your vehicle before it's too late. No vehicle inspection will be required."

I checked with my auto dealership and they referred me to your office for action. I did not call the number on the letter. (877-413-6377)

Received a letter in the mail asking to update auto file. Stating if receiving the notice factory warranty may have already expired. By neglecting to replace coverage at risk of being financially liable to any and all repairs after your warranty expires. Letter states they will sell Gold Option coverage. They list what it could cost for repairs if I don't call and extend. $12, 914.75.

The person this is addressed to has not owned a vehicle in over 15 years!!! Did not call the number as this is definitely some type of scam.
