I received a scam message through Facebook Messenger. This started last Friday and continued into Saturday. They used a friend of mine. Must have hacked into his account. Trying to look like my friend was sending the message. It said Hi . How have you been doing. By the way, I have a link for the Department of Health and Human Services. I clicked on the link. Their logo came up. It was like they had a Facebook website. My friend said please say that you are applying for a grant for seniors through their department. I did bit realize at first it was a scam. I should have called my friend. He received an award delivered FedEx. He did not disclose the amount. I clicked on and filled out the questionnaire. They needed a photo ID. I took a picture of the front and back of license and sent it to them. Two days later I realized this did not sound right. Then I went to the real link for The Department of Health & Human Services. They had information regarding fraud. The scammer agent James said he would deliver my prize. He told me not to tell anyone. We don't want the delivery person to be robbed. That did not sound right. Today they said my award was $320,000. They wanted $5500 from me. They stated cash is easy to work with. Told me not to tell anyone. I would receive cash. I did not send any money. I played along. I asked who do I make the check out to. Told me a woman in Connecticut. Paula W. Deegan. Her address is 425 Pomeroy Ave. Meriden, CT I do not have the zip code. I did not send a check. She sent me photo ID. She is the cashier to make the check out to. It looks like she has been doing this to other people. I lost no money. They put of logo of the Department of Health and Human Services to mislead people. The logo was fuzzy. It did not look right. Not something a Federal Agency would send. Another phone number was on the website. I don't have the phone number at this time.
