This was a company I found when I was trying to install a new Canon printer with my new Acer laptop. They assisted me in installing the printer, and offered a remote repair service, for something like five years. I was able to locate Devices and Shields when I looked them up, so thought it was a legitimate service. I purchased a five-year plan. Initially this seemed to work out well. Now I suspect, due to a couple of different situations, that I am dealing with a scammer. Recently, I was contacted about a security breach, which they reported was caused by whomever---and that my computer was infected with the Clampi virus. I was advised to purchase some things that Microsoft offers. A few days ago, I was again contacted by the same person about another security breach. Again, I was advised that my pc was infected with the clampi virus, and the resolution was to purchase a firewall (for about $1000). The caller wanted to install a solution for me, called Sonic Guard TZ600 series. When I stated I wanted to think about it, he got very impatient and asked what kind of problem I was having. (also, when he identified the clampi virus, he went on to show me a picture of someone he said was the culprit--a Nikolai Ordrejko). Anyway, I did not follow his guidance and hung up on him, and now this all looks very suspicious. I can no longer find the company called Devices and Shields when I google.

Another piece of info involves the fact that initially I would get different technicians. The one I seemed to get most often was named Devid. These recent two phone calls he has given me his number to call him directly. When I inquired about whether or not he was still wtih devices and shields, he stated they were one and the same.

My plan at this time is to stop all communication with this person, and to talk with my usual repair person for guidance. I have already lost money by possibly purchasing an illegitimate service/company (five year plan) and possibly purchasing items from MIcrosoft that may not have been necessary.
