I thought I was talking to a friend via messenger, and he was telling me about this government grant that I might qualify for. Not knowing that it wasn't my friend I fell for the stupid scam. I went to the website and was told that I qualified for $100,000 all I had to do was send them $1000 dollars in gift cards. They even told me what cards to buy. I bought the cards and notified them and was told to scratch off the number and take a picture of the card and the receipt which I did. I was told that I would be notified in 3 hours. I didn't look at the picture of my friend close enough to figure out that it wasn't him, it was someone using his picture and information which I looked at after the fact and found the information was not correct.
