We got an IM from our Facebook friend which said DHHS was awarding grants to individuals to pay bills, remodel house, help get out to poverty. It's a government program. I was told that if I pay $650 for administrative fees I would receive $50,000. They tried to make it look official. He said the money would be sent to me by UPS. He continues to IM. I am on disability.

The message asked if I have ever applied for a grant. I told him I was interested/ What did I have to do. I nneded to fill out a form. Asked me if I was ready to fill out delivery form.I did not fill out the form. It did not asked for my Social Security number. Asked if I wanted cash or check. Asked if ever applied for an online lottery. He stated I qualified for a grant of $20,000-$30,000. I do not have the phone number I deleted it. I am aware of these types of scams.

- Sacramento, CA, USA

They were asking for all my info so i could get my winnings. I was suspicious due to the fact that i barely talk to the person the message came from but also cause she just lost her husband and when i asked about that she said she was happy it made me wonder so i looked to c what scams were going on now then i couldnt respond to her messages all of a sudden and now my phone is acting crazy

I was contacted yesterday by Thomas Smith through Facebook Messenger saying I was one of several winners of money given out by DHHS. They asked me to text them for more details. I did text them and was told I had $100,000 coming to me but I had to Western Union them $650 for taxes and other fees. This made me suspicious to I contacted ScamPulse.com who told me it's a scam.

I was contacted from a friend on Facebook by messenger. The conversation started out casual then they asked if I received my DHHS government grant because they are doing a promotional for retired, workers youth and disabled and that they had gotten theirs via UPS and saw my name on the list. They sent me a number to text to see if I am still on the list but it sounded fishy so I then proceeded to ask them the question how we knew each other and then they blocked me.

Contacted by dhhs. They said they worked for the government and i had won a prize. Had to fill out a form first and send a delivery fee of 3500.00. On disability so broke up into payments. Lost 3100.00. He would not give an address or full name or government office he worked for. Said his name was mark and that's it.

i answer the phone and the scammer was like this " it seen like you are qualify for social security disability, can you hear me? " i answer yes without i realizing. then i i realize no body in my house are disable then remember it was scam then i hang off the phone.

( i have complete facebook messenger stream on this).

Scam begins by receiving a facebook message from a friend stating that they have just won $150,000 in a lottery pool and they think i have as well. i was then instructed to befriend a particular woman on Facebook (there are 3 of that name, choose the first one) which i did. Actually, now if you choose the correct one, you receive a message that the membership has expired so she's now gone. Then I was instructed to fill out a "friendship form" which I also did. I was then sent a certificate stating that I too had won $150,000. All I had to do was pay a handling and processing fee of $1450 and the money was mine. at this point I became suspicious that my "friend" wasn't my friend at all but some kind of scammer. It was true, and I paid nothing.
