We contacted the breeder via their website regarding puppies. They indicated they were in San Diego at the address **** De Anza Rd and that they only took Vanilla gift cards...no cash. We told them we would purchase the gift cards and head to SD arriveing around 3p. They incouraged us to give them the gift card numbers but we said no. As we got closer to SD we contacted themvia text sharing that we were running late, but we would be there. Again they asked for the card numbers stating they wouldnot do anything with them other than to get the paperwork started. Again we said no, we needed to see the puppies beforewe made a final decision. We arrived at the address above just before 4p only to find out that it was a gated rvresort...Mission Bay RV Resort. The resort asked us for a space number which we were not given. We called the phonenumber and a gentleman answered. We told him we were at the address at the gate and needed a space number. Thereception was very poor and he spoke softly with an accent so it was very hard to understand him. He repeated (as theyshared in the email) that they didn't take cash and asked if we brought the gift cards. We answered yes, we have the cards.He continued to repeat that he needed the gift card numbers before he would give a specific location. Our reply wasconsistent in that we needed to see the puppies before providing anything. This went back and forth for 5 minutes at whichtime we said you just lost a sale. At that point the gentleman hung up abruptly. It makes no sense to purchase a dog withoutseeing them before payment. The guard at the gate was not aware of a breeder in the resort. This wouldn't be somethingthey would allow. We are seniors who lost our dog 3 weeks ago. While we should have figured this out before the 2 1/2 driveto SD, we did once we arrived. My fear is for the seniors who pay upfront and don't find out until they get to the bogusaddress that it is a scam. Scammers are on a major rise...please stop these people.
