Two gentlemen knocked on my door, and were dressed in "scrubs", wearing name badges. They said they were reps from a company that did medicare-covered cancer screenings. My mother died very young of cancer, so I was interested to hear them out. They provided a fair amount of info supporting the "technology" behind the test. I agreed to the testing, which was a mouth swab. They collected my Medicare number, my secondary insurance info, my ss number, and a picture of my license. One of the gentleman gave me his cell phone number. Upon their leaving, I looked online for information on the company...absolutely nothing pops up! Supposedly it's called Direct Medical Testing, Inc. There seems to be no company in existence with that name. I figured "maybe they're new", so I waited a cpl weeks, to see if they sent my any info, or if something popped up online for them. Nothing. I texted the number I was given, and asked when I'd be getting results. The guy actually did answer, but had no info for me, and said that "not enough time had passed". I, again, went online and searched. The only thing I found as an image of a woman who was excitedly posting a pic of her company badge with them, because she secured a job with them. On that badge, which was the same as the one the gentlemen had on, there was a phone number. I called the number, and it's only a voicemail. No operator, no option to press a button and speak to someone. Nothing. I had no awareness of these schemes. I have not received or heard anything back from them. I feel very afraid for my info, AND my DNA.
