Got a voicemail from a representative from someone claiming to be with Direct TV offering lowered rates. They wanted me to buy $400 dollars worth of EBAY Gift Cards and submit to lower my payments. Obviously a scam.

I received a phone call from AT&T/Direct TV offering a 50% discount & all movie channels included. My husband wanted to try it so we accepted. They then asked if we would get an ebay card & put 6 mths of my monthly bill on the ebay card

My elderly mother has been receiving multiple calls from a fake Direct Tv tech wanting us to give him or satellite box information. Also, a lot of medicare calls about changing her plan.

Said call was from Direct TV with promotion to save on monthly bill. Wanted us to buy Ebay gift card to pay bill in advance in return for 50% off of monthly bill for 2 years. Because of new partnership with Ebay and Direct Tv this offer must be completed in only 24 hours. Must be paid right away. As a bonus we also would get Showtime,HBO and Stars free for 2 years with no contracts. I did not do this and called Direct TV at the number on my paper bill and they said Yes, this was a scam and they have no partnership with EBAY.

The telephone call came at 10:37 am on Tuesday morning October 20th. He asked if we had Direct TV and if we had received any discounts recently. He asked about our bill and if we were happy with it and if we were senior citizens. I answered that we had not received any discounts recently and yes, we were senior citizens. He then asked about our account number - this is what caught my attention. I told him that if he was really from Direct TV - he could pull up my account and see all the information he was asking about. He said he was not in the billing department, but I told him anytime I talked to Direct TV that they immediately knew all the information about my account. I would not give any information and told him I was going to report him to the BBB. He tried to keep asking about my account number, but I would not give it. I then told him I was going to report this call. He then hung up.

caller said they were direct tv and they were going to upgrade my equipment for a fee because what I had was out of date so I gave them my credit card number and I immediately called direct tv and said they do not do that and then i contacted my credit card company and cancelled my card the scammer called me back and they were asking about the charge

They offered 50% off my directv/att bill for 24 months with promo code EBAY if I call 855-355-0961 and pay the next 3 months bill with an Ebay card. They pulled up my att acc info somehow.

Called att directly and they said it was a fake promotion.

Caller stated that he was calling from Direct Tv to offer me a promotional offer from Amazon---this would lower my bill for 24 months at $59.99 and will upgrade my package which includes all the movie channels. All that I had to do was go to a store-- buy a $300.00 gift card for Amazon. Call them back and pay them the $300.00 gift card -- which would pay my Direct Tv up front for 5 months and there after -- $59.99 will be charged monthly from Direct Tv. (This person even gave me the names of all the stores that I could purchase the gift card. They would only take a gift card and not money or any other credit card.}
