I received a phone call from Directv a little while ago, I started not to answer but it said Directv on my phone and Directv is my tv provider. I had recently complained about my bill going up and had to downsize my programming package so imagine my delight when the person calling offered a promotion for existing customers! A great promotion actually! $69.99 a month for EVERY channel for 2 years, you just have to renew for 2 years. I was like sure! Great! He had all my information, name, address, phone number & Directv account #, so this has to be legit, I just confirmed what he said. This is where it gets scary...He has all my info...I have agreed to the change on my account...NOW he tells me I have to go get an EBAY gift card for $280, call the Directv payment phone # 888-335-4289 and pay for 4 months in advance. I was like what? Are you for real?! Dang! I told him how good he was and how I was totally going for it! up until the Ebay gift card pay for 4 months crap... He insist it's legitimate and says they would throw in a $100 Visa gift card if I pay by 10 pm tonight...I am so upset right now. I called Directv, asked about this promotion, yes I know, it was out of desperation, I really wanted that promotion package! I need the DIY channel back in my life! But no, as I suspected it was all a lie, a scam, complete fraud. The very nice, barely understandable English speaking lady named Jo said, "They (Directv) are aware of the scam but not to worry, my personal information is safe, my pitiful programming will not change & my bill will not be lowered." Thanks Jo...
