The scammer asked for me by house address and name. He said my electrical service would be cut off today for non-payment. When I said no way, we are paid up, he gave me a phone number to call of a "corporate office of electric utility". Said that I could argue my case with them, and if cleared, it would come back and be known to the caller. I asked for his name: John Silver. I asked for the name of the utility -- several times he replied with generic terms ("the electric utility"), but finally said Eversource.

We are not connected through Eversource.

The call came in on a landline that does not have caller ID -- too bad!

The corporate office number he quoted has an unfamiliar area code -- 855. I have not tried it. Full number was 855-786-0138
