Someone who claimed they worked with Dish called me and said I qualified for their senior discount. If I gave them $35 dollars they would take $35 of my bill from now on. I gave them my account number, my debit card number, and the last 4 digits of my social security number. The man told me if I did not give him the last 4 digits of my social he would cancel my account and I would have to pay $1,100 to have it reinstalled. I called Dish after and they had no idea about a senior discount.

I had dish installed on 4/16/24 and i was going down the list of channel lineup and I noticed they didn't have tv one so i called the number they had listed to call and when the guy answered he stated he was a dish employee and i explained that i wanted to add tv one to my package he said he could help with that so we preceded on with ordering the channel he acting like he was putting in the order he had me on the phone for a least 30 min finally he said i had to pay a small amount i believe it was $1.88 added to the the package and i had to pay upfront a that's what I did i asked him could I pay with a vanilla card he said yes so i gave him the card information my name last four digits of ssn date of birth and he said the card didn't go through on two different vanilla cards so that's when i gave him my credit card info then he said that one went through and the channel would be installed within 45mins so i waiting for 3 hours it still wasn't on so i tried to call back no answer so i felt something wasn't right so i called to see if he took the money off my card and I had to talk to my card service and they asked me if i authorized Dish network to charge $135.00 on my card i told them absolutely not and they already suspected it was fraud so they didn't let it go through and now that i don't trust them with my personal information i called and told them what happen and I called the next day to explain what happened and informed them I had to destroy the credit card they had on file for autopay and i don't wish to keep there services because i don't trust giving them my information on my new credit card for autopay now they are saying i breach the contract for 24 months and charging me $521.16 for 2 days of service i feel they breach the contract when one of their employees tried to fraud my credit card because the card service said it was Dish Network trying to get the $135.00 and when i had the cable installed on 4/16/24 their was no upfront charges my payments would start on 5/15/24 and later i found out they don't even carry tv one

Someone who claimed to work with Dish Network called and had me turn on/ off all of the tvs in my home. He asked me for the numbers on the back of the box but I told him I couldn't find them. He then called back and said that since I had been a good customer for so long I qualified for an upgrade. He said I need to pay him $250 upfront and I had to use either my debit or credit card. I told him no and that I did not want the upgrade. He got upset and said he would cancel my service. Later that day I noticed that all of my tv channels did not work. I called Dish using a number I knew was good and they told me that I paused my service. I told them I did not and explained what happened. They told me they would investigate the issue. The man who called me knew exactly how long I had been with Dish, my full name, and my address.

Received phone call from person claiming to be with Dish Network and provided name of James Brown and gave an employee id#. Asked for PIN for Dish Network account. I explained I did not know my PIN. He said he could do the update without. He asked I turn off our TV so he could update our Dish Network box. He then walked me through several other steps. He stated that he had updated my service. He then asked for a credit card number. I provided my Discover Card. The next day after worrying about the charge on my card I contacted Discover Card company. The credit card company stated it did not go through because it had been red flagged. Discover explained that a red flag is considered a fraudulent charge. I contacted Dish Network next and was informed that they would never call to update service or ask for a credit card to do so. Dish Network also claimed this is a known scam. The scammer continues to contact me by phone stating I need to have this charge authorized with my credit card provider. I have told him I know he is not legitimate and to quick calling me.

I received a phone call from someone posing as dish net work. I was told that my receiver needed to be updated within the next few days because I needed a new one that would support 5G. A new receiver was mailed to me within a few days. I was given instructions to allow them to help me install it. I did install the receiver with help from the supposed company. They sent back a professional looking box with DISH net work printed on it for me to return the previous receiver, which I did. I was told the charge would come across my credit card as SatEB for $199.99 as a one time charge. After that my account would be credited $20 a month for two years as a credit back.

A charge did come across to my credit card, but not under that name. I declined the charge when it was flagged on my account. I then called DISH net work who told me that they did not make any of these preparations. They said they will never notify a customer by phone unless it is to verify an appointment.

At this point, I had to have DISH repair my account with a new pin number and I then called my credit card company back who canceled my card and is re-issuing another one.

As a curiosity, I called the number back that sent the equipment and they still identify themselves as DISH. That number is.877. 220. 8119 x 103 for Max and x104 for Sam.

I did not lose any money on this transaction because I declined the charge.

The people at DISH told me that I actually didn’t need a new receiver, and the one that the frauds sent to me was probably identical to the one that I sent back to them.

We called about Dish network and they said that dish network was bought out by direct TV and our channels weren’t working because of that. Our receiver from Dish Network wasn’t working at the time. They tried to sell a fake package to us and that it would cost $20 to begin the new channel subscription. They also said they would send a technician to our house on Thursday. They asked for my address and email but I did not give them any banking information. I hung up when I realized it was a scam. I called the number back and they would not say they were dish network and then hung up when I confronted them.

They called pretending to be Dish Network and said if we didn’t send them $300 for an upgrade our services would be disconnected. I called Dish and they told us our equipment was up to date and that we didn’t owe $300 and they took record of it.

On Wednesday, 25 July 2018, at 11:05 AM CDT, I received a call. My Caller ID showed, "Dish Network 800-333-3474." Since I am a Dish Network subscriber, and since I recognized that number as one I've called numerous times, I answered the call. The said, "This is Daniel from Dish Network." I said, "Yes?" He said, "You use Dish Network, right?" I said, "Yes." The caller hung up.

Manipulated the caller ID to make it look like they were calling from Dish Network. 1-800#. The drill was exactly scripted with what Dish would do if there was a technical issue. (are you infront of a TV, ect).

They said they needed to install new software. They knew my name and address, and was very convincing. He wanted my security password for Dish, I told him I didn't remember it. he asked me for my email, I told him he already has it.

About 45 minutes later, he called back and asked for the last 4 digits of my SS#. I wouldn't give it to him. He asked if I had an additional phone number, I told him no, even though I do. Everything was scripted as if I was actually talking to a call center.

He said that I needed to give him, $160.00 for a deposit for the new software that they needed to load on the receiver and that when I got rid of Dish, I would get my money back. I told him it was my last straw so I could get him off the phone, and told him that I was done with Dish and hung up the phone. I called Dish Network fraud dept. and told them what happened. they were aware these type of things were going on and they are manipulating the caller ID.

The advised the consumer that she needed a new receiver, and that they would send a new receiver to the consumer. They stated that it cost $150 for the new receiver to be sent and that she could make the payment with a credit card. Consumer advised that she didn't have $150 and they stated they would still send someone out to her home. Consumer called Dish Network and they advised the consumer that they did not call her.
