I was told my dish receiver needed an upgrade which could be done remotely. I would receive a $25 discount monthly for 2 years but needed to give them my credit card number. I would be billed a one time charge of $199. Don't know how they got the info on me on the first place but Dish confirmed it was a scam.

They have left me five messages in Spanish saying they are from Dish and there is something wrong with my account. I don't speak Spanish fluently enough to completely understand the message, but someone who does also thinks it's a scam since I've never had an account with Dish. When I called Dish using the number I found online, they put me on their do not call list in case it was just someone who put the wrong number on their account. When I Googled the numbers given, others had reported the same issues of Dish calling about an account that did not exist. I have attached the screenshot of the fifth time that I received the same message. I chose not to call the numbers given, especially since Dish knows I do not have an account with them.

On 9/27/18 I received a call from "Dish". The foreign sounding voice said that our Satellite receivers needed to be upgraded and they would set up an appointment to do that. They would hook up the new boxes and take away the old ones. He had me verify the ID numbers on the TV. He said if we upgrade, then we would get $15 off of our bill for 24 months. There would be a $150 fee like a deposit on the boxes. He verified my information and then wanted my credit card number for this fee to be taken off after the installation of the receivers. I didn't want to give out my credit card number and tried to find some other way to handle it. I asked for his name and phone number and I would call him back. He gave me the general Dish Network number, but said I wouldn't be able to talk to him, I would just get the next available person and would have to do all the information again. We went around and around and I finally broke down and gave out my mastercard number. I worried about this and this morning I called Dish and they said they didn't have anything like this going on. The gal said it sounded like a scam and transferred me to another number. She said there was nothing on my account showing the transaction from last night and that it was a fraud. I called Bank of America and had my card blocked. They will send me another card.
Around 2:30P today I received a call from "Dish" and he said he was the verification department. He saw that I changed my pin. He wanted me to get a copy of my bill and verify the account number. I said no. He spent quite awhile trying to get me to give out more information, but I didn't. I told him to cancel the order.
Apparently I changed the pin and the card soon enough to save myself a lot of money.

A man called saying we needed to upgrade immediately. The satellite would be unable to broadcast to us because our equipment. The man said we only had two hours to respond. It would only cost us $200.00. We hung up and called Dish. They put us with their fraud division. We changed all of our info. We called the scammer back. His call had came up as being from Dish. He also had some of our info. My husband confronted him. Glad we dodged a bullet.

I was contacted by 707-773-3250 and they said they were Dish Network and said that they could help me lower my bill and improve my service they wanted to know my Dish Account number and my last 4 of my social security, (which i gave). After that they said they would need a 200$ deposit for the improvement of my service. "John Wilson" the guy that initially called me transfered me over to his supervisor to collect on the 200$. i told them no that i didn't have a credit card and she (the supervisor) said that it was ok and i didnt need one just then so we hung up. I called dish and asked if this was something that they do and Dish said "No and it was a scam and they hear about it often" a few days later the same "supervisor" called and said that they needed the 200$ or my service would be cut off. I told them that they are a scam and are being investigated, upon hearing that she became irate and said that she will cut off my service entirely if i don't pay. I hung up.

our experience is exactly the same as the other experience reported in Nebraska but we were able to stop them when we called their buff and said we will call DISH ourselves and talk to them to get the details. We were leery when they said our monthly payment was a certain amount and that was incorrect and they knew our last four digits of our Visa. They had used Dish network toll free number to call/our caller ID so we almost fell for this scam but called them out. Later called DISH direct and frud department told us we were correct as this was a scam.

person called 2/7 stating they were from Dish and needed to update my equipment so I could continue receiving service. It would cost me 150.00. I give them my credit card number and they called 2/28 stating that my credit card had been denied, and wanted to call my bank to say it that I authorized the transaction. They were very insistent.
They did not get any money.
I ended up calling Dish and asking them if they were doing any updates. I was told that they were not doing any updating of the equipment.
