The scammer hacked into an Indeed account for a current business, Capital City Learning Center and posted a job listing for a remote administrative assistant. I applied and was reached out to via email originally from an indeed email, and then from a google account, [email protected]. I was asked extensive interview questions and was approved for the job without an interview. They requested my name, address, and phone number. After my personal information was obtained by them, most contact was done via text message from a Florida phone number, ###-###-####. They stated they would mail me a check to obtain the needed materials for the job, such as a laptop and software for the job. I was asked what bank I use to ensure it "matches the company's official check." I did not give them my banking information and this is where I started to suspect this was a scam. I called the Capital City Learning Center to confirm if this was a scam, and the director notified me their Indeed account had been hacked.
