I was looking for a vin number and came across this website that looks like a government website but it is not. It was very misleading and says you can look up anyone for a $1. This is how they get everyone! 3 days later my card was charged $28.95 and I never signed up. I immediately called to cancel. The person on the phone asked for my name and email 3 times! I was about to lose it if they asked again. I asked for a reimbursement since I never signed up for anything and they never answered. I was told the account was canceled and I will get an email confirmation and I never did. It is now in dispute with my bank. Lesscharged on learned!

I thought I was getting a dmv record for $1 but it is a subscription service and they charge monthly

I used a credit card to run the VIN number of a vehicle for $1 on the website dmvrecords.us.org. The report came through as promised, and I was happy with it. I received a confirmation email saying "This charge will show as "ONLINEVINCHECKSCOM" but it didn't list a dollar amount. I was a satisfied customer at this point, and I would have left a positive review for them on social media. However, three days later they charged my card $28.95. My credit card company declined the charge and contacted me about it. While I was on the phone with them reviewing my recent card transactions, another transaction came through for $9.95 from them....and it turns out the initial $1 was never charged. I tried to access my account information on the dmvrecords.us.org website while I was on this call; but it was futile as there is no way to do this. My credit card company said the best way to handle this to avoid future charges was to cancel the card and issue a new one. So that is what I did. I have two contact numbers associated with this company: 1-855-482-6235 and 1-877-384-3451, and an email address: [email protected].

They advertise a full vehicle history costing only $1. They ended up attempting to charge me another $40 in two separate payments three days after the initial $1 payment came out of my account. There is no address on their website, so you don't know where this "company" is. There is no info when you google the number or on bbb.org.  And calling their number of 855-780-5148, nobody answers.
