I received an initial email on April 11, 2023, offering me a remote position with the company as an HR Assistant. The email included a detailed list of responsibilities, along with the salary. There was an attached employee information form, which struck me as odd, considering I had not applied to nor spoken with a representative from the company. After thoroughly searching my email and the job boards I had applied to, I determined this was a scam and promptly deleted the email. I received a second email on April 29th, officially offering me the position with a start date of May 16th. I only needed to sign and return the attached offer letter by May 2nd. I deleted that email as well without a response. The following email arrived on May 25th with an apology for not being able to provide more information on the role, as the previous employee had left within the last week. I was told that a new offer letter was being prepared and that a FEDEX was scheduled to arrive with provisions and instructions regarding the office equipment.

I received a FedEx envelope with a cashier's check from Chase Bank for $4,850 with a list of equipment I was to purchase, along with instructions to email a copy of the receipt to prove that I had cashed or deposited the check into my account. The only information I have on my resume is my name, number, and email address. I am still determining where or how they obtained my mailing address. The FedEx package arrived International Priority from an address in Canada. This is also why I am contacting you, as this business/scammer is also operating internationally.
