Type of a scam Other
been infected. Page on PC Screen, Call MSN Support 1-888-237-7730 to
have warning stopped. MSN Support "answered immediately" warned I had
been attacked by a hacker. (???) I am now confused! Have been online
and PROTECTED by MSN WINDOW DEFENDER for last 3 years! Never had a Virus
or Hacker attempt on my PC. Support Person from MSN said he needed to
get into my PC. I told him before anything, to STOP that loud voice. He
put me on hold, after 2 mins. I hung up and called same number again,
got "immediate answer". Told the guy to kill the voice-I was unable
to mute. Voice stopped he asked to get into my computor, I agreed. He
showed me some sheets showing attempts of hacking my PC. This time I
asked why after 30 years did MSN have a unknown monitoring system in
Windows Defender? His answer, do you want this fixed or not? Still not
sure what was happening, I agreed to go further! He showed me some
pages, (cannot find those pages). Pages showed hacking inside my PC
and some other stuff. Then he starts typing numbers on my screen, 299.99.
Said that was the cost to remove the problems. I knew then it was a
RANSOM ATTACK! I put him in his place-cannot repeat what I said!
Unplugged my internet service, restarted my PC. Everything was gone!
Checked my system for any entries that were dated 5/19/2023. Nothing!
Had just downloaded new virus, ramsomware, malware, vpn, total security
package from Bitdefinder (used in past). Scanned my PC, NO VIRUSES, NO
RAMSOMWARE, NO SPYWARE, NO MALWARE, NO HARMFUL SYSTEM PROBLEMS. I did
call the 1-888-237-7730, NO ANSWER! MSN spport would have been answered!
One of 2 things happened a new type of ramsomware for nonbusiness people
AND/OR Microsoft is breaking privacy standards by using Windows Defender,
to watch All WINDOWS DEFENDER USER'S Web Activity! I do believe it was
Ramsomware "LAZY SLOBS". Most likely attaching something to downloadable
files then putting the squeeze on anyone who accidently downloaded that
file!......Was NOT BITDEFINDER FILE!
I have not heard from or been contacted by people since incident.
