Over the past two weeks, I’ve been in contact with a woman on Instagram, @yourchoicedoodlepaws, who claimed she and her husband were breeders. Everything seemed legitimate—she provided detailed information, and I found no red flags. She even helped arrange financing for the dog, which was meant to be a certified support animal. We built trust as she sent daily updates with pictures and videos of the dog, often with children. Everything appeared to be going smoothly until the delivery.
That’s when the pet nanny company (Dream Pet Nanny Movers) suddenly demanded additional money for a ventilated crate. I contacted the breeder about this unexpected fee, and she convinced me it was a new airport requirement, reassuring me I’d be reimbursed. They even provided a receipt for the charge. But shortly after, they asked for even more money.
When I contacted the breeder again, someone else claimed she was in the hospital. From then on, she stopped replying to my messages. Growing more suspicious, I went to the police the next day. Meanwhile, the pet nanny continued to demand payment and even threatened to abandon the dog at a shelter if I didn’t pay the additional amount, warning that they would sue me for abandoning the dog if I didn't comply.
I have filed a fraud report with the Miami-Dade Police Department, and a detective is expected to contact me in about 3-4 weeks to begin the investigation. I have gathered all the necessary evidence (videos, photos, captures, and a recording of the pet nanny) and can provide it.
