****** **** ** ******** ******** *** **** * ***** **** ************* ***** ***** *** knocked on my door offering to do a roof inspection for a free roof. I pointed to my "no soliciting" sign on the door. He said that he was not selling, but offering the roof inspection that would include submitting a claim through my homeowners insurance policy for any damage found and I would get a "free" roof. I should mention that while my roof is 20 plus years old there is no damage and there has not been any recent severe weather such as high winds that would have damaged my roof. I responded that if it sounds too good to be true than it probably is. He responded that what he was saying about the free roof was true. There is no such thing as getting something for nothing. I had someone else knock on my door years ago offering a roof inspection. ** *** * ***** ***** **** *** *** **** **** ****** ***** **** *** I know it was a scam because it was dark outside. Who does roof inspections when its dark outside? The best thing to do is say NO I am not interested and shut the door. When it's time to get a new roof, you get a proposal from a reputable roofer(s).
