I am a college student at Georgia State University. I received an email through my student account from a well-known source of student information, informing any students who were interested in dogsitting for 'Dorcas Arnold' to email her from our personal emails, not our student emails. I sent this person an email asking for more information about the job inquiry. They asked to know pertainent information, like my zipcode to be able to, they said, calculate the travel fees. They told me through several emails that they planned for me to dogsit for them several days a week, and they asked for my address and phone number. I sent them the information. However, my school recinded the email and stated that it was a phishing scam. It was, unfortunately, too late to retract my email. I received phone calls and emails detailing more information about the "job." Although they said they were in the process of moving to a new house on "Connally St SE, Atlanta, GA 30312" but not an actual address. I kindly told them I was no longer interested 11 days ago. I proceeded to block the email address and phone number, and I reported the email adress as a phishing scam to Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook, and several government offices that handle these kinds of cases. I thought the issue was resolved, as they did not attempt to contact me again, but today I received an email stating that were going to send me a check in the sum of $2,450 through USPS. I am unsure of what to think at the moment, and I fear for my security.
