There was an add on craigslist for a beautiful 2 bedroom-2 bath apartment w/many new features and everything included (electric, gas, water, sewer, etc) for $1,820 near Ala Moana and only a $1200 deposit. No phone number, just an email. No address, just the rental address. I knew immediately it was a scam because of the price and how new the unit was and the location. My suspicion was confirmed as he emailed me back saying the unit was occupied by a newlywed couple and it wouldn't be available until the end of the month. And here are his words: If the timing works and you do not want to miss out, you can have the apartment reserved for you until you view/move-in with the payment of the first month rental fee plus the refundable security deposit to the landlord's bank account. You will also be filling the lease contract form and the completed form should be email back to me for reservation. So, hundreds of people have responded to this ad and I all of a sudden have been chosen w/o a credit check, w/o verification of income, w/o meeting me, etc. Mind you, the ad was just placed and I happen to see it the same day.

If anybody wants you to secure a place w/o seeing it and place a deposit down by giving your bank info on line, but you don't have any phone number, nor have you seen the individual, it's a scam 9 out of 10 times.
