I received TWO wrist braces that I did not NEED OR ASK FOR.

Called on a landline saying Medicare was offering free items. After hanging up, seemed fishy. Then got a same items as previous post and then a bill. Reported to police.

So what ever happened? In this same exact situation with my grandmother, they are telling her to mail it all back but won’t pay the shipping fees

The scammer who called me was a well-spoken English-speaking man who immediately said he was with Medicare and asked me to verify my name and address - which I did because I do have Medicare and I did have surgery, just not the kind he asked me about. I received TWO wrist braces that I did not NEED OR ASK FOR.

What did you do with the braces and the bill? My grandmother is in the same situation and doesn’t know what to do. They told her just to mail it back.

My mother lives in assisted living and I handle all of her finances so I use my home address to receive her medicare statements and bills. I've received multiple packages now, two from this address as "Sun Health" with boxes and boxes of covid self test kits that we did NOT request. When I called they told me to give them her information. I said no, you already have it because you've sent her a package. The called said "no I cannot see that information in our system, you HAVE to give me her information so I can add her to the list" I refused and hung up. So tired of these scammers praying on the elderly. And I'm very thankful my mother doesn't have to deal with these companies/people or be confused anymore. I won't let it happen.

My elderly mother received call and despite her saying no, this package arrived at her door with no other info than the letter. They called her several times about it and each time she referred them to my number but they never called me. I finally called number on the letter (Georgia Bracing & Medical Supplies Inc) and they told me that she would have gotten a call from some Home Health company saying it was "covered under medicare." I have no idea how Medicare would authorize medical braces without her doctor's involvement. I told Georgia Bracing that my mother is not able to make these decisions on her own and that we don't want the stuff. The lady from Georgia Bracing said she would send send a return shipping label.

This is a MediCare DME fraud scheme. Scammer called my 79-year old, post-stroke relative. Offered medical equipment (wristk & knee braces) which could be received free of charge because relative is on Medicare. My relative said she did not need them. Scammer said--oh yes you do, and you better get them now or you won't be eligible any more. My relative said the scammer already had her name, birthdate, Medicare or SS# (she couldn't remember which), and her address, and she confirmed them, even correcting the address, and agreed to receive the items. She did not need these supplies, and the scammer likely billed Medicare in her name.

I received TWO calls from the place. The first one, they claimed to be calling from CVS Pharmacy on behalf of Medicare. They called for my elderly mother, seemed to know she had back and knee pain, and kept offering to ship a free back and knee brace. We tried to explain we never asked for that or wanted it, but they kept claiming it was free. Of course, they billed Medicare and probably put in an order with our doctor. The representative did a shady thing of telling us the shipping department was strict, and to say yes when she told us to and say no when she told us to. She even interrupted the phone call with the "shipping" department and we couldn't hear the shipping rep's full questions. She would interrupt and say "say yes" and "say no" We didn't even complete the call - we hung up - and they still shipped the back and knee brace to us.

The scariest thing was the second phone call that we received, because the number that showed up on my phone was our primary care doctor's phone number and name. But it was this same lady from this scam. And my mother said that the rep told her she was calling "on behalf of Dr. Davis" (our doctor). I could hear her telling my mom that her pain might be from medications interacting with each other, and that they would ship her an at-home test to do on herself to check. She then did the same thing of saying she would connect her to the shipping department and to say yes when she says, and say no when she says. So I told mom to ask who this is, and my mom asked and said is this "Dr. Davis' office?" and the lady said no but we are calling on behalf of her to ship this test. I told my mom to hang up immediately. How could they call through the doctor's phone number?? That seems very illegal and deceitful. Please find and shut this company down. They are using our tax dollars to force medical equipment on senior citizens.
