I received a call that appeared to be local (but was not!) offering a promotion on duct cleaning services. I had reached out a few months prior for local duct cleaning services and did not get a response from them so I continued speaking with them when I would normally hang up. They asked how many bedrooms we had, how big the house was, etc. and then stated that they could come to my home and clean all ducts and furnace, including a sanitization for $137.00 on this promotion. I had initially accepted, gave them my address, and booked a date and time for their technicians to come but I felt a bit uneasy as I am not used to accepting services from a cold call and I didn't recall them stating the name of their business. I used to work at a call center so I know that not all cold calls are scams but this felt off so I did some investigating online to see if duct cleaning cold calls are legitimate and found that more often than not, they are a scam. I was concerned so I called back and cancelled my service. They were very persistent about keeping our appointment to the point of rude so I asked for their website. When I reviewed their website it looked relatively legitimate but then I saw they listed themselves as A+ on ScamPulse.com so I dug deeper and you have no record of this business so I feel confident this is a scam and should be looked into further. Thank you!
