I have had two debits from my HSBC account totalling £4.63. Please explain what these are for, as I do not recall having made any purchases from you

Purchased a gift for my son online in December that cost $14. Was charged a $59.95 membership fee the following month. There wasn't a clear statement at the time of purchase I my item that said anything about being entered into a membership. Several (6 to date) attempts at contacting the company for a refund of this charge have not been successful. The customer service is a 3rd party service and all they can do is forward my concern to billing department and upper management of the company for resolve which hasn't been resolved.
