I am looking to rent a room in the Bay Area in California. I had 3 scams this week. The story for all 3 was pretty similar: they are out of town, they need someone trustworthy to look after their place. I filled out an application and got immediate approval, without them checking my references. They all wanted money via money order or cashier's check, with no way of seeing the interior of the apartment. 1 listing was for San Francisco, and 2 listings were for Santa Cruz. I will fill this form out for all 3 individually. The first report is for the one in San Francisco.
