I found two cars on craigslist and followed instructions to make contact with individual. I made contact with [email protected] and [email protected] to discuss the cars. Long story short both stated they wishe to have the transaction to be handled through the ebay motors buyer protection program, i of course being a happy customer of ebay was very comfortable with the transaction. I was sent invoices and instructions from what appeared to be ebays buyer protection website and followed instructions, this all took place on a Thursday, on the next day Friday I received a text abut my interest in the same car with the same name, I immediately knew i had been scammed. I called the number on ebay gift cards and froze the cards and started the process of getting my money returned.I red so many blogs about people not ever getting their money back because they waited too long before reporting it, fortunately I snapped on it quickly and acted quickly. Ebay is a great company are are more than willing to help you if you act fast enough. If you purchase a car off the internet through craigslist or any simuilar website just remember that ebay doesn't handle the transaction for these sites even if they are requesting ebay gift cards. Im not sure how the planned to use the gift cards as they are only redeemable through ebay and your paypal account.
