Hello,
I contacted Ectaco on behalf of my grandfather who uses their electronic translators. He needs a new battery for his model. I checked online and the battery is only offered in one place (Ectacos own website) for ~$40 however it is listed as out of stock. I emailed Ectaco asking when it would become available or where I may be able to purchase from another vendor. They replied that i am unable to upgrade the battery but was instead offered an "upgrade" of $400 for a new model OR buying the same model for $200. I believe this to be preying on their customers and forcing them to spend more money on their products than necessary. My grandfather does not have a lot of money and even this purchase was a lot for him financially. I just do not see how it is morally acceptable for a business to force you to upgrade to a new model when all we need is a new battery. It means that when the next ones battery dies we will have to again spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade rather than just swapping the battery. This is not like an iPhone where it is impossible to replace a battery per say.
