I received a text from 424-529-4050 saying they were Ms Patricia Arthur from Edelweiss Financial Service Limited (A finance firm based in Mumbai, India but with an office in the US... should have been my first sign, but I've been unemployed for 5 months and I guess desperation makes me less alert...). I have my resume with name and phone number on several job boards so I assume that's how they found me. They said they have a number of positions available (Data Entry, Customer Service, Administrative Assistant, Payroll Clerk, and many more). They said they wanted to conduct an interview with me on Google Hangout (warning sign #2 but again... desperation... ) They had me add [email protected] on Google Hangouts and he started an "interview" with me that lasted around 2 and a half hours. In the interview they interspersed questions that I think were phishing questions but very slowly and mixed in with normal interview questions. They wanted my full name, my full address, the name of my bank and how long I had banked with them. I don't think thats enough to steal my identity but I dont know. They then said they were going to send me a money order to pay for $200 worth of software needed to do the job and that I would need to send the extra money back to them via Western Union or Moneygram (which is where I finally figured out it was a scam). They said to report back to them at 9AM the next day. They also asked questions about personal interests and stuff I assume to make it sound more like an interview if that hopefully helps anyone else identify this as a scam.
