Scammer found contact information from previous exhibitors at the IACP 2024 conference and pretended to offer discounted hotel rates for the following year's show, which book quite quickly. Company did not disclose full costs of their charges before executing credit card billings on our company card. Then, when asked to dissolve the contract, the company charged an additional cancellation fee. This was all within less than 24 hours. The fine print in their contract was misleading and confusing, claiming flexible and easily changeable bookings. They charged over 33% in taxes/fees on top of the base hotel rate they quoted.
