The recruiter stated the job is for a materiel expediter for 1 year and pays $40.00 per hour. The lady asked for my birthday and my last four of Social security number. I told the recruiter I am not will in to give this information over the phone. The recruiter stated, "well birthday and last four of social security number is required to send your information to Duke Energy. If it was coca cola or AT&T, then I would not need this information". I reinstated my position no social security number or birthday. The lady was persistent stating "well I only need the last four of your social security number, not all 9 numbers". I told lady again I will not give this information.
So the recruiter said I will send you my company information with benefits package and my address so you can see that " I am real" and then send me your social security last four numbers in the email".
I did not give this information. However, I did some research and found this is in fact a complete SCAM!!!!
I sent this email to the "recruiter"
Our phone conversation on November 11, 2020 you contacted me in regards to a materials expediter position at Duke Energy and pay is $40.00 per hour.
You asked for my social security last four numbers and birthday as required to send my resume and information to duke. You stated duke requires this but other companies don't.
First, Duke Energy is not hiring for a Materials Expediter. In fact, there is no such position at Duke Energy.
Second this type of job pays $14 to $18.00 per hour in every state. Not $40.00 per hour as you stated. No company in this world pays $40.00 per hour for this type of job!
Companies don't ask for birthdays and social security numbers over the phone.
Also, your address in your email is not real Either.
I never got a reply from this person. I later called the number given to me 7042378241 and is disconnected.
