Afterward they sent me documents including a letter of employment and a W4. Once I had filled out the information which included bank details for direct deposit, they said they would email me a check for $12,000, which I would use to set up a home office purchasing a list of hardware and software that they provided. I was instructed that I would buy this from a "certified vendor" once I received the check. Additionally it was at this point that they told me I would be paid $35 an hour, over the initial offer of $27 an hour. While I waited to receive the check, I decided to research deeper into the claimed company in which I noticed several abnormalities such as different locations, a 555 phone number on their website, and a lack of online presence. I confronted the person I had been talking to about it who responded with very dismissive, vague responses. Here is the transcript of that conversation:

Wilson I'm a little confused right now, I've been doing a bit more reading about the company and I see a couple conflicting things throughout the information provided? Your description says the company functions out of Iowa, but the website you provided places your operations throughout Florida with no mention of Iowa. Can you explain this to me? Is there some way to confirm that this is a real job opportunity?

At this point I had determined that this was illegitimate, and ceased contacting them along with closing the account I provided them to prevent any fraudulant behavior.
