RV trailer scam using eBay Motors and eBay gift cards for payment

I was looking for an RV trailer that was in decent shape for a reasonable price and I came across a Facebook ad for a 2001 Fleetwood Prowler in excellent condition for $1400. I contacted the seller and got additional photos and discussed details about the trailer, delivery, etc. When I decided that I wanted to buy, I was sent an invoice and payment instructions from eBay Buyer Protection telling me that I had to pay the $1400 with eBay gift cards and they could only be purchased in up to $200 max amounts and I would have to buy 7 gift cards and give them the information on each gift card. Big Red Flag! Never pay with gift cards! You have no recourse to get your money back when you don’t receive the item. Thankfully I knew this and did not lose any money.

I’m trying to buy a RV or camper for my son who is homeless. And I see several real good deals. But I’ve learned to look on this website for the real story. There’s been at least 15 scams on these, and probably some are the same person, just changing their name. What a big run around with pictures and texting back and forth.

I replied to a add for a car for sale on Facebook for a 2008 Toyota Carolla for $1200, The woman who was selling it Elsa Powell said Ebay will handle the sale and shipping but the payment has to be made using Ebay gift cards, I called this number claiming to be Ebay customer service I made the payment and they said that they need another $800 for insurance, I made the payment and I get a message saying they need another $800 for border tax, I made the payment and I called a few days ago asking for the tracking number and the so called Ebay representative hung up the phone, I called The actual ebay customer service and gave them my order number,The Ebay representative told me it was invalid so now I'm writing this report.
