I was introduced through a business owner that we work with regularly. She was a bookkeeper who was only handling a couple of family businesses but wanted to expand. She seemed promising. I paid an initial $400-500 to start the services. When we meet she asked for check writing access. I told her absolutely not. I paid her an additional $200 per month for about 4 to 6 months. After 3 ish months received a letter teling me that my rental tax was not paid. I found out that she had only filled 1 months rental tax. I gave her the option to catch up the rental tax but she was responsible for about $400-600 in late fees. I agreed to let her finish out the year and that her payment for the rest of the year was the late fees that i paid then we would reevaluate at the end of the year. She agreed. I started watching my Rental tax and she missed another. I then started paying them myself. I then spoke to my CPA she had not done anything in quickbooks from day one. I am now out about $1800. She is a scam artist. I spoke with another business owner that did give her check writing access and was told she drained the bank account and went no contact.
