This happened last month (March 2021) I got an email through a jobboard (I think it was Indeed) offering to hire me to edit lettters for Empik, a Polish bookstore chain. Their letters were in very bad English that I was to put into good English. As it turned, I did four editing tasks for them--which they praised highly--which by their tally was to pay me $360 (my figure was $270). The money would be paid to my Paypal account. After completing the last task, I got an email saying the editing job was being eliminated but offering me a better job ($1900 a month +). The instructions for the second job were complicated, but they involved managing their auction deals working through ebay and Paypal. Along with those instructions I was told their office was in Palmyra, New York and given a phone number. I had one phone call with a person at that number who I could not really understand because of his heavy accent. Finally, I emailed the contact(s) from the editing gig and said I'd be glad to proceed with the new job but wanted payment for the editing work before doing so. I never heard from them again.
