I found out that this company is a scam after I spoke with my friend who is a crime analyst in South Florida and she mentioned that she had heard of something similar and told me to be careful. I had already done some digging but then i started to include the job title with the company name and found a reddit from 2022 that basically said the same thing as the email i received for an offer: https://www.reddit.com/user/missannoyed22/comments/zf74t7/kobelt_tech_systems_em...⇄ />
I have been looking for a job for a few weeks now, and received an email regarding a Canadian company moving to Orlando, FL and they were in need of an office manager. I have had a few companies that I have not applied for reach out after viewing my resume on various sites, so I noticed the pay and it was local, so decided to take the initial interview. Here is the email:

Dear Candidate,

I'm contacting you to invite you to an interview for the Kobelt Tech Systems' Office Manager vacancy. We are quite impressed by your resume and think you would be a great asset to our company.

Ten to fifteen minutes are allotted for the phone interview. We will go over your experience, credentials, and professional history during this time. We will also give you more details about the role and our organization.

The following days and times have been scheduled for the interview: 23 September 2024, 24 September 2024, 25 September 2024,

To ensure that your interview experience is as enjoyable as possible, please let us know if you have any special needs or requirements.

This job has a fixed $3,500 biweekly salary and a hybrid/remote work option.

Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM is when the office is open.

Our office will be located in Orlando, Florida's downtown.

"Derrick" called me on Wednesday and we did about a 10 min interview, where he stated that they had narrowed it down to myself and another candidate. They were in a hurry to fill the position, since the office was opening on Oct 14th. The next morning i received this email as well as a text congratulating me on receiving the job.

This office is where you will be stationed for work and Also from home if you are employed based on a remote position.

We will be opening the new office in weeks from now. Your required duties will be assigned before the official opening of the new branch office. On this day, we will go over your training and orientation.

Your starting salary is:

Biweekly salary

Vacation time is paid in 3-week increments.

Office hours are from 9am to 5pm, Monday-Friday.

The Finance department will be sending a certified check/cheque to you by mail to help with obtaining office supplies and stationery. A report is needed on or before 14th of October 2024 of all detailed assigned tasks.

Confirmation is needed of the required details listed below to have our Finance department mail a certified check/cheque and the employment package to you:

• Full legal name for the check/cheque

• Complete mailing address (with Unit # if applicable)

Address of the new office?

Since the office is downtown Orlando, will parking be paid? Or will the office have parking (free) ?

Will there be any opportunity for remote day(s), (no issue if not.. just noticed you mentioned remote above)

"Vacation time is paid in 3-week increments" - can you explain this further? How many total vacation days per year? What if any holidays will be paid for?

I have a few dates that I have commitments currently off. Hopefully these will not be an issue: November 19th, December 13th, December 30th-January 2.

Will benefits begin on my first day or is there a waiting period?

You mentioned bi-weekly paychecks, will I receive my first paycheck before the end of October (just confirming)?

I look forward to receiving the employee package and understanding the details of my position and how I can help the team!

Answered job ad on Indeed. Was asked to pursue interview on an app called Signal. Once it became clear that they were asking for banking/personal information, I saw it as a red flag.

The scammer was Brittany Morgan and has HR Assistant on her telegram account. Here are the details

We are delighted to extend this offer of employment to you for the position of a Data Entry Clerk with

IGE Therapeutics. You will be required to complete the following tasks to proceed with what comes next

in your hiring process.

Important: Please follow the link below to watch a video that highlights the blockchain software we

utilize for data entry. It provides valuable insights into how you can get started.

check to you specifically for the purpose of getting started. You are expected to use the funds

What happens that you mobile deposit the check made out to the the victim and this is where the scam begins. A week later the check for $1960 was returned as counterfeit. I made a police report and I am prosecuting the scammer. Please beware of any one who sends checks in your name to your email, text or mail without checking with you back first or credit union.

Job offer for data entry clerk, no interview, just a short assessment online. 27$ per hour.

Stated company will provide equipment, provides check to deposit then places it on hold with your bank and asks you to front 1000$ for the equipment to be reimbursed on your first check.

I was hired for a package checker making allegedly $3,600 a month working remotely I was in contact with multiple people who I thought were supervisors/employees etc. Packages were sent to my home, I filled out payroll paperwork W-2 forms was given a payment date and never received my direct deposit!

I applied for a job on indeed. Saw his job post for a front desk receptionist. I applied. A few days later I get a email that my application was approved for interview to contact *** *** for further instructions. I emailed him, few days later he responded stating that the receptionist position has been filled but he has a personal assistant job opened. If I was interested resend my name address email number to him. So I did so. An he said in a couple weeks once he’s back in town he’ll set up a face to face interview an get all paperwork done. After couple days he emailed me letting me know that he needed me to purchase some supplies an food etc for a foster home that he was gonna send me the funds to do so. I wrote back telling him I don’t feel comfortable sending my banking info to someone I haven’t even met. I never got a response back for about 3 days. Then he messaged me on 8/6/2019 letting me know that a check was sent to my house via fedex once I receive it to deposit once I do so to let him know so we can go on with purchasing items for foster home. The check was $4,950.00. For some reason before I deposited it I went ahead and looked up his name only to find that he was involved in the Azscam an that he was convicted years ago. But obviously didn’t learn his lesson because he’s back on it. I was only looking for a job did not know I would get scammed. Now his texting my cell phone. He has my address an all. So I feel very uncomfortable.
