Sophia Chang ([email protected]) first contacted me by email from on 10/14/2017 (subject: Concerning Advisory/Board Positions) and again on 10/16/2017.

Her email was sent via GoDaddy's secureserver.net service (the domain, employing.net, is registered with GoDaddy.com). The employing.net website appears to be hosted by UnifiedLayer.com.

When you run a scam business, you should at least make sure to connect the dots online to ensure your business appears legitimate. For example:

• If you reference a tier-one executive recruitment firm such as https://www.spencerstuart.com/ and associate a name with that firm, in this case, Andrew Wyatt, and claim that there is some connection between that person and me, then you better make sure that

o the connection can be validated

? I have a LinkedIn connection to and with every executive recruiter / headhunter I’ve ever spoken with and yet …

? … I do not know anyone by the name Andrew Wyatt nor am I connected to any such person via social media

o the person does indeed work for the firm you referenced

? there is no Andrew Wyatt listed in an employee search at the Spencer Stuart web site

o or the person once worked for the firm you referenced

? there is no person with a last name, Wyatt, listed in LinkedIn with either a current or past affiliation with Spencer Stuart

• If you proport to be a legitimate corporation then

o there should be much more information available online about your company, especially if you are in the business of employment services

o a fake – or at least unverified – press release (http://www.zkoop.com/feeds/2017/7/22/employing-network-inc-offers-helpful-hints... doesn’t help

o an address (in the fake press release) that resolves to a virtual / co-working space facility, www.thesatelliteinc.com, does not add credibility

? I sent a query to Santa Monica Satellite Inc. asking if Employing.net was a client

? I am guessing that the answer will be that you are not or, at best, registered a virtual office through their service

o the contact address for your company (per your website at https://www.employing.net/contact-us/) states that your company HQ is at 100 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 700 Santa Monica, California 90401

? this address is managed by Barrister Executive Suites Inc (http://barrister-suites.com/locations/santa-monica/santa-monica-100-wilshire/)<... />
? I sent a query to Barrister Executive Suites Inc asking if Employing.net was a client

? I am guessing that the answer will be that you are not or, at best, registered a virtual office through their service

• Your company website lists no names of executives, consultants, or other team members and LinkedIn has no references to Employing.net or Employing Network

o any and every professional recruiting, headhunting, job matching, and related service company has a profile in LinkedIn

o any and every individual who serves as a recruiter, headhunter, or similar function has a profile in LinkedIn

o any and every media contact, in this case, Jeffery Kaplan, has a profile on LinkedIn

o any and every person who claims an SVP title, in this case, Sophia Chang, has a profile and history on LinkedIn

• Any company doing business in California, whether a C-Corp, S-Corp, LLC, LLP, or any other legal structure must be registered with the California Secretary of State

o this includes “foreign corporations” registered in a different state but doing business in California as you claim to be doing per the address in your fake press release

o a search of Corporate and LP/LLC names using search strings “Employing Network”, “Employing.net” and “Employing” at https://businesssearch.sos.ca.gov yielded no results

Finally, a search on your company through the ScamPulse.com scam tracker (https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/us/) provided this warning:

Scam Description

The first email I received was general in nature and explained how they can help in my job search. The second email gave a fake referral from someone they claimed gave them my name. They referenced Andy Wyatt from SpencerStuart which is one of the largest and most reputable search firms. I then received a third email from another person offering a "risk free premium membership" that would give me access "Confidential Opportunities". To get access to these, I had to register and commit to a $100/month fee which I could cancel after 90 days if not satisfied. I then went into these "Confidential Opportunities" and found a position that fits me perfectly, almost too well! That was the first red flag. I then called SpencerStuart and asked to talk to Andy Wyatt and was told there is no one by that name that works there. I sent an email back to Employing Net asking the sender how she got connected to Andy Wyatt, and have not received a response. Lastly, I called the number they provide, and the message basically said there was no one to talk to and to just send an email. I am convinced this is a scam that posts dummy jobs in order to get $100 to $300 in revenue before people figure out it's a scam. I'm working with my credit card company to dispute this claim, but this will take weeks for them to do the investigation. I can provide copies of my emails if that is needed and helpful.

My conclusion is that employing.net (Employing Network Inc.) is a scam business that claims to be an online executive employment / recruiting service. There is scant information available online about the company and the names of people associated with it, including Sophia Chang, do not resolve well online.

I submitted formal complaints against Sophia Chang and Employing.net (Employing Network Inc.) with:
